Teorik olarak gördüğünüz dil bilgisi kurallarının cümle içinde nasıl işlendiğini görmüş olursunuz. Bu da sizin de benzer cümleler kurmanıza yardımcı olur. Bununla birlikte, İngilizce hikayeler kelime dağarcığınızı zenginleştirir. Kuru kuru kelime ezberi yapmak yerine, kelimeyi cümle içinde görmeniz her zaman daha kalıcı bir öğrenme sağlayacaktır.

Story 1
Surprise! (İngilizce)
Jerry and Emma are husband and wife. It’s summer, and Jerry’s birthday is approaching. Emma wants to give him a present for his birthday, but she wants it to be a surprise, so she must keep everything a secret.
But she has a big problem. If Jerry cannot know about her plan, how does she find out what to get him for his birthday?
She decides to use a secret technique. For a whole week, while she pretends to do other things, she actually listens very carefully for clues.
However, Jerry doesn’t really talk about this subject. A whole week passes with no mention of something he actually wants or needs!
“That’s it!” Emma thinks to herself. “Jerry’s birthday is tomorrow! I’m taking off the gloves!”
She calls her sister-in-law Mary, and they make a secret plan.
Mary will call Jerry, ask him what he would like to receive for his birthday, and Emma will listen to the conversation (without Jerry knowing it.)
The scheme starts out as planned. Mary calls Jerry, and they have a nice chat about his upcoming birthday. Emma listens carefully from the other room.
Finally, she hears what he wants – a pair of sneakers!
“All right!” she thinks to herself.
Full of excitement, she runs out of the room. She is not so quiet, but who can blame her?
She rushes off to the shop and buys a pair of shiny sneakers, exactly Jerry’s size. She’s very happy. She will get him the present he wants, and it will be a complete surprise!
Today is Jerry’s birthday. Emma waits until their special dinner at night.
Finally, the moment arrives. It’s time for Jerry’s present!
Emma brings in the box of sneakers, wrapped in colorful paper.
“Wow!” Jerry says with a big smile. “I wonder what it is.”
“Open it and see for yourself!” Emma replies happily.
He tears off the colorful paper and takes out the box. He opens the box.
“Oh, it’s a … pair of sneakers! What a lovely … surprise…”
Emma notices that something is wrong. “What’s the matter? You don’t seem surprised. Don’t you need a pair of sneakers?”
“Hmm…” Jerry takes a look at each shoe.
“Well, didn’t you tell Mary that you wanted a pair of sneakers?” Emma asks him.
“A pair of sneakers?” Jerry starts to laugh. “I said a pair of speakers! You seem surprised. Well, I guess I could use a pair of sneakers, too!”
1. Hikaye
Sürpriz! (Türkçe)
Jerry ve Emma karı kocadır. Yaz mevsimi gelmiş ve Jerry’nin doğum günü yaklaşmıştır. Emma ona doğum günü için bir hediye vermek ister ama bunun sürpriz olmasını ister, bu yüzden her şeyi bir sır olarak saklaması gerekir.
Ama büyük bir sorunu var. Jerry planını bilemezse, nasıl olur da doğum günü için Jerry’e ne alacağını bulur?

Plan planlandığı gibi başlar. Mary, Jerry’yi arar ve yaklaşan doğum günü hakkında hoş bir sohbet ederler. Emma diğer odadan dikkatle dinler.
Sonunda Jerry’nin ne istediğini duyar – bir çift spor ayakkabı!

“Hmm…” Jerry her bir ayakkabıya bir göz atar.
Emma “Pekala, sen Mary’ye bir çift spor ayakkabı istediğini söylemedin mi?” diye ona sorar.

Oh, the Horror . . . (İngilizce)
Emma and Jerry like to watch movies. No, actually, Emma and Jerry love to watch movies. They have only one tiny problem. They never like the same movies . . . Emma likes horror movies. She likes the fear and the blood.
Jerry, on the other hand, hates horror movies. He hates the fear and the blood. He likes love stories. He likes romantic couples and happy endings.
Emma hates romantic movies. She thinks they are silly and boring.
At first, they don’t know they have such different tastes in movies.
Emma comes home. “Oh, my goodness!” She calls out. “Jerry! You have to come with me to the movies. There is this amazing new movie! I must watch it.”
“Which one is it?” “The Bloody Ax.”
Jerry thinks about it for a second, “Hmm . . . doesn’t it sound a bit weird?” “Of course not, silly! It seems like an amazing movie. We must watch it.” Emma laughs at him.
“Well, if you say so. Let’s go for it.”
Two hours later, Jerry is sitting in the movie theater, screaming. Five minutes later he is running to the bathroom to throw up.
“Oh, my goodness, Emma. I didn’t know this is what you meant when you said ‘amazing!’ I don’t think I can watch a movie like this again.”
“It’s OK, Jerry,” she says. “I guess you don’t like horror movies as much as I do.”
A few days later, Jerry comes home.
“Emma!” he calls out. “Listen! You have to come with me to the movies. There is this fantastic new movie! We must watch it.”
“Which one is it?” “Sun, Love, and Hope.”
Emma thinks about it for a second, “Hmm . . . doesn’t it sound a bit silly?” “Of course not, Emma! It seems like a fantastic movie. We must watch it.” Jerry laughs at her.
“Well, if you say so. Let’s go for it,” Emma agrees.
Two hours later Emma is sitting in the movie theater, completely stiff. Five minutes later she is running away in terror.
“Oh, my goodness, Jerry. I didn’t know this is what you meant when you said ‘fantastic!’ I don’t think I can watch a movie like this again.”
Jerry looks at her and says, “Well, I guess you don’t like romantic movies as much as I do.”
“That’s right,” Emma agrees. “What are we going to do? Will we ever go to the movies together again?” Jerry thinks about it for a moment and then answers, “I guess we will have to wait for a horror love story. You know, a boy meets a girl, they fall in love, and then she eats him!”

Story 3
Little Red Riding Hood (İngilizce)
Once upon a time there lived a little country girl, the prettiest creature who was ever seen. Her mother had a little red riding hood made for her. Everybody called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One day her mother said to her: “Go my dear, and see how your grandmother is doing, for I hear she has been very ill.”
Little Red Riding Hood set out immediately.
As she was going through the wood, she met with a wolf. He asked her where she was going.
“I am going to see my grandmother.”
“Does she live far off?” said the wolf.
“It is beyond that mill you see there”.
It was not long before the wolf arrived at the old woman’s house. He knocked at the door.
Tap, tap, tap.
“Who’s there?”
“Your grandchild, Little Red Riding Hood,” replied the wolf, faking her voice.
The good grandmother called out, “Pull the string, and the latch will go up.”
The wolf pulled the string and the door opened, and then he immediately fell upon the good woman and ate her up in a moment.
He then shut the door and got into the grandmother’s bed, expecting Little Red Riding Hood, who came some time afterwards and knocked at the door.
Tap, tap, tap.
“Who’s there?”
“It is your grandchild, Little Red Riding Hood.”
The wolf cried out, “Pull the string, and the latch will go up.”
Little Red Riding Hood pulled the string, and the door opened.
“Grandmother, what big arms you have!”
“All the better to hug you with, my dear.”
“Grandmother, what big ears you have!”
“All the better to hear you with, my child.”
“Grandmother, what big eyes you have!”
“All the better to see you with, my child.”
“Grandmother, what big teeth you have got!”
“All the better to eat you up with.”
Fortunately, a hunter was passing nearby the hut. He heard the wolf and recognized him right away. He ran over to the window. He took a good aim, and that was the end of the wolf.
3. Hikaye
Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız (Türkçe)
Bir zamanlar küçük bir köylü kızı yaşarmış, şimdiye kadar görülen en tatlı varlıkmış.
Annesi ona kırmızı başlıklı küçük bir pelerin yaptırmıştı. Herkes ona Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız derdi.
Bir gün annesi ona: “Git canım, büyükannenin nasıl olduğuna bak, çünkü çok hasta olduğunu duydum.” dedi.
Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız hemen yola çıktı.
Ormandan geçerken bir kurtla karşılaştı. Kurt, ona nereye gittiğini sordu.
“Büyükannemi ziyaret edeceğim.”
“Uzakta mı yaşıyor?” dedi kurt.
“Orada gördüğünüz değirmenin ötesinde”.
Kurdun yaşlı kadının evine gelmesi uzun sürmedi. Kapıyı çaldı.
Tık, tık, tık.
“Kim o?”
“Torunun, Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız,” diye yanıtladı kurt, Kırmızı Başlıklı Kızın sesini taklit ederek.
İyi kalpli büyükanne, “İpi çek, kapının sürgüsü yukarı kalkacak” diye seslendi.
Kurt ipi çekti ve kapı açıldı ve sonra hemen iyi kalpli kadının üstüne çullanıp onu bir çırpıda yedi.
Daha sonra kapıyı kapattı ve büyük annenin yatağına girip Kırmızı Başlıklı Kızı bekledi. Çok geçmeden Kırmızı Başlıklı kız geldi ve kapıyı çaldı.
Tık, tık, tık.
“Kim var orada?”
“Senin torunun, Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız.”
Kurt, “İpi çek, mandal yukarı kalkacak” diye bağırdı.
Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız ipi çekti ve kapı açıldı.
“Büyükanne, ne büyük kolların var!”
“Sana daha iyi sarılmak için canım.”
“Büyükanne, ne büyük kulakların var!”
“Seni daha iyi duymak için çocuğum.”
“Büyükanne, ne büyük gözlerin var!”
“Seni daha iyi görmek için çocuğum.”
“Büyükanne, ne büyük dişlerin var!”
“Seni daha iyi yemek için.”
Neyse ki, kulübenin yakınından bir avcı geçiyordu. Kurdu duydu ve onu hemen tanıdı. Pencereye koştu. İyi bir nişan aldı ve bu kurdun sonu oldu.
